About Stillwater
Stillwater, also known as Stillwater City, is located in Payne County in the middle of Oklahoma, and is the county governor of Payne county. According to 2012 estimates, the city's population was 46560, ranking 10th in Oklahoma; its population in the micropolitian statistical area was 78399. Stillwater was part of the first Oklahoma land run on April 22, 1889, and became the core of the new Oklahoma territory. On August 24 of that year, the city charter was approved. Stillwater is the main campus of Oklahoma State University.
The economy of Stillwater is diversified, with aerospace, integrated agriculture, biotechnology, photoelectric engineering, printing, publishing, software and other industries. The government organization form of the city is the parliament manager system. The city's biggest employer is Oklahoma State University. In 2010, Stewart was named one of the top 100 livable places by CNN Fortune magazine.
